At Birzeit University, we are running a campaign to help 500 of our most talented and financially disadvantaged students complete their education during the COVID-19 pandemic, which has taken hundreds of lives and affected the livelihoods of thousands in Palestine.
As with most other universities and higher education institutions around the world, Birzeit University has moved almost every part of teaching online, meaning that students not only have to adapt to new ways of instruction and learning, but also have to purchase devices that are at least capable of joining online discussions without any delay or interference.
Such devices are not cheap, and our talented young students are struggling due to this lack of access. Larger families with more than one student are bearing the brunt of this situation, with siblings having to share devices – in some cases borrowed — just to attend lectures.
We can’t stand and watch while brilliant students fall behind due to circumstances that are completely out of their control. With your support, we plan on providing 500 laptops, at a tax-reduced price of USD 500 each, to 500 outstanding, financially disadvantaged students.
